Students are the most important partner in our education system and they deserve a voice in shaping every level of it. Join us as we share how Battle River School Division is providing students with meaningful opportunities to impact decisions at the Division and school level. Partnering with the jurisdiction’s student engagement team, SAVY (Student-led Advocacy for the Voices of Youth), decision makers are honouring the capability and capacity of students to engage in educational leadership in an authentic and informed manner. During the session you will hear directly from students and leaders about the many projects SAVY has been involved with including: inspiring the vision for mental health capacity building, increasing awareness and understanding about smartphone usage in classrooms, vetting the jurisdiction’s assessment framework, and informing Board decision making in facing the fiscal realities of rural declining enrollments.
