In an age in which it is now recognized that social emotional learning is a huge part of student success, instructional leadership takes on a new meaning. It is essential that we, as school and district leaders, seek to educate the whole child. When we empower our students by giving them a voice in their learning, we can begin to truly tailor the structure of our schools to meet their individual needs. This presentation will discuss the survey development process so that other school leaders may develop a psychometrically sound survey to capture their students’ voices. Please join us in this interactive session which explores how the Calgary Catholic Separate District, in conjunction with the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary and St. Mary’s University, used a new Student Voice Survey to unpack their students’ learning needs.
